Fairway: A Living History

The Fairway history project was first launched in 2008 with a technical grant from the Kentucky Oral History Commission of the Kentucky Historical Society. The book portrays a fascinating history of Fairway land from the late 18th century through the development of the subdivision during the 20th century. Steeped in history, the Fairway neighborhood is part of an original Certificate of Settlement and Preemption Warrant from the Commonwealth of Virginia given to Colonel John Todd, Jr., one of the founding fathers of Lexington and great uncle of Mary Todd Lincoln.

The book is a narrative history based upon interviews with many current and former residents, extensive research and cherished memories. Also included are interesting, often humorous and sometimes shocking incidents. The book highlights the ties to Daniel Boone, Henry Clay and other prominent historical figures are discussed. The focus is on significant historical features, events and people who lived on or had interest in Fairway land.
